Waktsa ma ne la phai sang me la: these words that I heard keep coming back to me these days. It means, that the home would be dead in silence without children; it also leans towards meaning that it would be dry without any joy. My five year old son Tshewang has always been so curious. He had non stop 'why' questions that it would become impossible for me to answer sometimes but I never once snubbed it off as meaningless. However, once he started school, he became so quiet and he was on his iPad all the time. Oh, while I did not cut him off from asking questions, I did tell him not to talk to strangers or to touch other kids. This was purely because I wasn't sure about the culture we are in. When you do not understand the culture you are thrown in, you do not know what is right and wrong when it comes to interacting with people from that culture. And what’s the story behind your blog title? ð I started blogging mainly to keep up my interest in writing. It gave me the space and opportunity. It sprung as a result of my interest in writing, and the habit of keeping a journal. I transferred almost all the writings I had maintained before in my journals/notebooks to my blog. I stayed for two years in Kanglung but when my friends made a trip to Rangshikhar, I could not. I lived with regret for nine years. But today, I was to erase my regret forever. I woke up early. I said prayers and this morning, I could visualize my lama so well, so well that I even started to fear if it was a bad omen. I prayed that the Rangshikhar Rinpoche be there at the gonpa but he wasn’t. We were informed that he was returning from his neykor only today. Maybe this was the bad omen. But I have no regret. I had his audience many years back in Tashigang Pam, where I attended a tshechu. The rough road from Tashigang Pam seems to stretch for more than 11 kilometers. You don’t see any single house until you really plunge into the village. Then, as you go up again, there isn’t any sign of what you will see as you reach the hill top.
